Why are Brawl Stars and Pokémon UNITE rated PEGI 16?
On UK storefronts both carry PEGI 16 through IARC, and the labels cite in-game purchases that include random items, not violence. In October 2026 PEGI said existing digital games that sell paid random items move up to PEGI 16. The rating describes what the shop sells, so a parent who allows the game anyway can keep payment methods off the device.
Which game is best for a mixed-age family?
Fall Guys has the lowest age rating here (PEGI 3), sells no random items, and its voice chat starts off. Fortnite's Battle Royale is the next step up at PEGI 12 and runs on every device; Epic's parental controls are among the most detailed.
Can phones and consoles play together?
Fortnite and Fall Guys link phones, Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and PC in one party, though Fall Guys reaches iPhone only in the EU. Pokémon UNITE links Switch and phones. Brawl Stars is phones only, and THE FINALS is PC, PS5 and Xbox only.
We are six or more. What works?
Brawl Stars friendly rooms hold six, split into two teams of three. Pokémon UNITE Custom Battles take up to ten. Fortnite parties reach 16 on islands with large-party support. Fall Guys and THE FINALS work best split into smaller parties.
Do any of these games sell loot boxes?
Brawl Stars and Pokémon UNITE sell paid random items, with published odds or visible mechanics. Fortnite's own modes do not, but creator islands may, and parents can block them. We found none in Fall Guys or THE FINALS.
Is everything free?
All five are free to start. Each sells a paid currency, a pass and cosmetics; the price lines on each hut say what costs money and what it buys.
Are the photos of the games?
No. They are photos of people playing, from Unsplash, credited on the credits page, and none is a screenshot or official image. The official site linked from every hut shows the game itself.
Why is there no Mac version of most of these?
Only Fortnite reaches a Mac, through cloud gaming services. Brawl Stars and Pokémon UNITE run on iPhone and iPad instead, and the others need Windows, a console or a phone.
