Where the facts come from.

Every fact was checked on 23 October 2026. Official pages come first; community sources are named where we used them.

Sources, in order of trust

1. The publisher: official sites, help centres, patch notes and store listings written by the developer.

2. Rating boards: pegi.info, the ESRB and the IARC labels that storefronts display.

3. Community wikis and guides, named in the text wherever a number comes from them (the Brawl Stars, Fall Guys, Pokémon UNITE and THE FINALS wikis; Bulbapedia; Serebii).

Match lengths

Official timers are used where they exist: Pokémon UNITE's 10-minute battles, THE FINALS Cashout rounds (9.5 minutes, final up to 14) and Epic's 'five minutes or less' for Blitz Royale. Brawl Stars timers come from its community wiki. Fortnite Battle Royale has no official average, so we give the 15 to 25 minutes most third-party guides report. Fall Guys has none either; our 8 to 13 minutes is the sum of the wiki's round timers and is marked est.

Age ratings

We give the PEGI rating from pegi.info where it lists the game (Fall Guys, Fortnite), and otherwise the PEGI label a UK storefront shows: the PlayStation Store for THE FINALS, Google Play and the Nintendo eShop for Brawl Stars and Pokémon UNITE, which are rated through IARC, the system app stores use. Where an official site shows an older badge, we say so.

PEGI changed its rules in 2026. In March it announced that games submitted from June with paid random items get PEGI 16 by default (PEGI news), and in October that existing digital games rated 3, 7 or 12 that sell them move to 16 as storefronts update (PEGI news). PEGI names no titles; we read the PEGI 16 labels on Brawl Stars and UNITE as that change, because the labels cite random items and no violence beyond cartoon fights.

Paid random items

We say 'yes' when a rating label or the publisher says the game sells random items for real money, and name the mechanism. We say 'none found' when the publisher's purchase pages, the shop notes and the rating label all describe fixed items only. 'None found' is not a guarantee: shops change with every season.

The four ratings

Easy start, team talk, skill gap and short sessions are rated from 1 to 5 by the editors, each with a one-line reason on the hut. They are judgements built on the facts above, not measurements. We do not add them into a total, because a high skill gap is a warning for one crew and the attraction for another.

Corrections

Games change with every season. Send a correction with a link to hello@joyquay.com and we will check it and update the date on the hut.
