Brawl Stars
Three-minute team fights on a phone, with bot matches for new Brawlers and a friendly room for the whole family.

Profile
What it asks of a crew
- Easy startTouch controls and short rounds; Supercell keeps bot matches on until a Brawler reaches 2,000 Trophies.
- Team talkThere is no voice chat. Teams talk with pins and short in-match messages.
- Skill gapBrawler power levels count in Trophy matches, so a long-time player brings stronger Brawlers. Friendly rooms upgrade everyone fully.
- Short sessionsA whole match fits into a bus stop: Supercell says under three minutes.
- Team size
- Teams of three (3v3) in the main modes, with 5v5 variants and Duo Showdown for pairs
- Main mode
- Gem Grab, 3v3, over within 3:30 (community wiki)
- Short option
- Bounty, 3v3, two-minute timer (community wiki)
- Devices
- iPhone, iPad and Android only; no PC, Mac or console version
- Cross-play
- iOS and Android players share matches; a free Supercell ID moves progress between devices
- Ranked
- Ranked opens at 1,000 Trophies (community wiki); Mythic and above need 12 Brawlers at Power 11 (Supercell)
- Price
- Free to play. Gems (the paid currency), the Brawl Pass, the Pro Pass for Ranked ($24.99 for four months) and skins cost money.
- Paid random items
- Yes. Supercell's own store text says some items bought for real money are random, and the Google Play label reads 'In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items)'. In 2026 that covers random Buffie offers for Gems and Brawler Boxes during new-Brawler events. Supercell publishes drop chances.
- Age rating
- PEGI 16 through IARC on Google Play UK, with 'Users Interact' and 'In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items)'. ESRB Everyone 10+ through IARC in the US, for fantasy violence and crude humour. Apple's own App Store age is 13+.
- Released
- December 2018 on iOS and Android
First night
A 45-minute plan
Built around the friendly room, so the first quarter of an hour has no Trophies at stake.
- BeforeEveryone installs Brawl Stars and signs in with a Supercell ID. A parent can create the ID for a child with a parent-controlled email and leave no payment method on the phone.
- 0–5 minAdd each other as friends and open a friendly room. The host picks Gem Grab.
- 5–15 minFriendly Gem Grab, with bots in any empty places. Every Brawler is fully upgraded and nobody can lose Trophies.
- 15–35 minQueue together in the normal 3v3 rotation. New Brawlers still meet bot matches, so the first games stay gentle.
- 35–45 minTwo quick rounds of Bounty, then stop. Each player names one Brawler to try next time.
Accounts and ages
Before anyone signs up
Supercell sets no general age limit, but a player under the age of majority needs a guardian to accept the terms. When a player says they are under 16, Supercell limits chat and social features, and young players can only join Family Friendly Clubs, which use a stricter word filter.
A parent can create the child's Supercell ID with their own email, watch the friend list and control access to the Supercell Store. With no payment method stored on the phone, no purchase goes through. Supercell says it shows no personalised offers to young players.
Where the first hours go
The first evening is mostly Gem Grab and Brawl Ball as they unlock on the Trophy Road. Matches are so short that a loss is forgotten by the next queue, and bot matches keep the early games gentle.
The shop changes often. Since the April 2026 shop rework, personalised offers and random drops sit next to fixed skins, so it helps to agree on spending before anyone opens it.
Phone-first groups, trios, and families who want something short: a friendly room upgrades every Brawler and puts no Trophies at stake, so a ten-year-old and an adult start level.
Anyone who wants to play on a console or PC, families avoiding paid random items, and players who dislike power levels that grow with time or money.
